January 30, 2024
The NBL1 Tamboran Darwin Salties have recently made two major announcements of player signings. The first announcement being the 2023 NBL1 North MVP, Courtney Woods. Courtney averaged 21.69 points per game along with 2.38 assists and 6.85 rebounds. She also shot the ball at 48.6% from the field.
Courtney is currently playing for the Townsville Fire in the WNBL, where she has been identified as one of the seasons "breakout stars" and has been introduced into the teams starting lineup.
The Tamboran Darwin Salties general manager, Matt Nason, added,
"Courtney was a star last season and this is a great signing for the club. The Salties women played finals in 2023 for the first time and we want to make the top 4 and play a 'home' final in 2024- we know Courtney will help us get there".
Courtney will join the Salties women ahead of the 2024 NBL1 North season.
The second player announcement was made just yesterday for the Men's Tamboran Darwin Salties. Makuach Maluach will be returning to play for the Salties for his third consecutive season. Makuach was named Most Valuable Player for the Salties in 2023 averaging 24.85 points per game, to go along with 1.4 rebounds all while shooting the ball at an amazing 63%.
Salties Men's Head Coach Matthew Flinn spoke on Makuach's character and unique skillset that were an asset to the team,
"Makuach is not just about words, his words match his action. He is in the gym constantly working to improve his game, and I honestly believe that we are yet to see the best from Mak".
